Clothing Repairathon + Free Mending Workshop Dec. 9 at YIMBY Festival

Volunteers are ready to repair your holey sweaters, ripped jeans and reattach those missing buttons, just in time for winter! Join us at the YIMBY Festival, Saturday Dec. 9 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Metro Hall (55 John St.) in room 803, where volunteers will be mending clothes for free.

Want to learn how to repair your own clothes? We’ll also be running a free workshop on Mending Tips and Tricks from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Join us and learn some basic mending skills including how to sew up a fallen hem, reattaching a button and repairing small holes and tears. If you have any items in need of repair, bring them along to practice on. We’ll have scraps to practice on as well. Please sign up for the workshop here.

As a volunteer-driven group we’re always looking for sewers of all skill levels. We’re a friendly and fun group who loves sharing our skills and giving back to the community. Love to help out? Please sign up at app.repairathon.com to hear about upcoming events all year long.

Have a tear in your jeans? Need a button sewn on? Stop by and we’ll fix it. Feel free to come by with clean clothing in need of small repairs, not more than 2-3 per person.

We’re always looking for more volunteers, so if you’d like to help out, let us know. You don’t need to know how to sew, and it’s not a big commitment. For more information on volunteering, click here!
